Zum Trocknen des Malzes im Kiln
wird ein starkes, heißes Feuer verwendet. Zum Heizen nimmt man in der
Regel Kohle oder Anthrazit. Soll das Malz rauchig werden, so wird auf
dieses Feuer Torf aufgelegt, dessen beißender Rauch für die Rauchigkeit
des Whiskys sorgt.
Wegen der leichten Entzündlichkeit
der Brennstoffe ist ein Zutritt leider nicht möglich ;-). |
The
malt is dried in the kiln by a strong, hot fire. Coal or anthracite is
typically used for the fire. If the malt should become peaty, then peat
will be added to the fire. The pungent fumes of the peat are responsible
for a peaty whisky.
