Der Whisky 'The Glenlivet' erhielt den Zusatz 'The' (engl. Artikel: der), um sich von den vielen Brennereien abzusetzen, die ebenfalls im Tal (gälisch: Glen) am Fluss Livet brannten und über den Beinamen 'xyz-Glenlivet' am Ruhm dieses besonderen Malt Whiskys teilhaben wollten.
